WHOA, an organization whose mission is to create harassment-free environments online, announced today that it is changing its name from Women Halting Online Abuse to Working to Halt Online Abuse (WHOA). "Our organization works with men and women," said WHOA President Jayne Hitchcock. "We needed to change our name to get the message out that online harassment is not gender-oriented; it isn't just women who are harassed and stalked online."
To accomplish its mission, WHOA plans to continue educating the Internet community about online harassment, empower victims of harassment and formulate voluntary policies that system administrators can adopt in order to create harassment-free environments.
