Before becoming disabled from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/CFIDS) in the 1980s, Bill worked for the federal government at the Social Security Administration and Labor Dept., part time as a photographer/newswriter for several local weekly newspapers and for a short while at The Kansas City Star daily newspaper in the composition room.

Since then, he has worked as a volunteer with the National CFS and Fibromyalgia Association in Kansas City doing public relations including a monthly cartoon for their newsletters and a yearly cartoon calendar for several years. He created a website with information about CFS/Fibromyalgia in 1986 which he still maintain at http://www.geocities.com/cfsdays. Bill also was moderator of two echos (Fibromyalgia and disAbled) on Fidonet (BBS) through much of the 1990s.

He has also served as vice president of the Tenant Association at the apartment complex he previously lived in, and created/maintained their website as well as produce their monthly newsletter.
