Parrot silent after theft ordeal ends
http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_740259.html?menu=news.quirkies
A stolen parrot which can mimic a police siren has been returned to his owners.
He was spotted being carried down the road in a plastic bag by thieves who were trying to sell him.
His owner Diane Moore said a man called police to say he had just bought the £500 bird for £50 from a man in Leicester city centre.
Officers recovered Budweiser and he was returned. But his Mrs Moore says he is refusing to speak after his ordeal.
The African Grey was stolen on Wednesday by burglars who broke into the family's home in Leicester.
Mrs Moore, 41, said: "He is very, very quiet and very upset and his feathers are all ruffled up.
"He would normally be talking by now, but he hasn't said a word.
"However, they are very temperamental birds and they can suffer heart attacks and we are very lucky to get him back so we are all very pleased."
